Explore a future career while you’re still in high school aid! & get p Youth Apprenticeships for Sheboygan area high school students Get to work with Youth Apprenticeship The Youth Apprenticeship program offers students like you the opportunity to explore future careers while still in high school and get paid for your time working at area employers. With one- and two-year programs that start when you’re a high school junior or senior, you can experience careers in fields like Agriculture, Arts/AV & Communication, Architecture & Construction, Health Science, Finance, Hospitality & Culinary, Information Technology, STEM, Manufacturing and Transportation/Distribution & Logistics. Expand your career options During your Youth Apprenticeship you’ll receive occupational related instruction and on-the-job training as part of your high school schedule. You will also graduate with a state skills certificate and career-related work experience. Youth Apprenticeship grants students the opportunity to work alongside adults in a professional setting, and learn skills they cannot learn in a classroom. They also add career-related work experience to their resume. With oversight by a company mentor, students develop the same job skills and have similar responsibilities as other employees in that career. Become a Youth Apprentice If you’ll be a high school junior or senior next year, you’re eligible to apply for Youth Apprenticeship. If selected for an interview and offered a position you will enroll in Youth Apprenticeship related classes and be available for 10 - 20 hours of work per week during the school year. You must also maintain good grades in school, work for at least 450 hours in a year, achieve required work skills and meet high school graduation requirements in order to complete the program.
