Approval of Meeting Minutes: Cody Gaeth, secretary, stated the minutes of the November meeting were posted electronically; corrections to spelling of student names were verified, Anna Hebert called for a motion to approve; upon motion from Val Root, LCSNA, and second from James Worley, LCAI, the November SGA meeting minutes were unanimously approved. College Update: Doug Gossen, Vice President of Student Services, provided an overview of Achieving the Dream, an effort LTC is involved in to help students graduate and achieve success; he asked students about barriers to staying in college and students discussed textbook usage/format/cost/necessity; making it easier for students to look up and find classes online as well as making the scheduling process easier. Leadership Activity: James Worley, LCAI member, provided a demonstration and sampling of homemade Alfredo sauce and pasta; he also shared his experiences as a culinary student. Student Organization Input: John Schanilec, Auto Maintenance Club car raffle raised $1800 and they may do another car raffle in spring; Cynthia Lorenzo, Vanessa Drapes from SHRM Student Chapter reported that LTC is hosting the state HR Games in March; Carly Moulton from BPA reported that LTC is hosting the WI Spring Leadership Conference and Nationals are in Boston, MA; Auto Collision Club is attending spring auto show in Chicago; Campus Christian Fellowship Club is donating items to a church; Health Physics Student Chapter is visiting a nuclear power plant. SGA Officer Updates: SGA’s donation of $500 to the LTC Library will be used to buy pens, highlighters, and other office supplies students can borrow when using the Library; SGA has an online suggestion box students can use to share issues/ideas/solutions of broad interest to all students, it’s located on the Current Students page of the LTC Website, on the SGA linked info; students can also talk to SGA officers and/or advisors about concerns/comments. Career Placement Center/SGA Advisor Update: Foua Hang shared that the Career Placement Center is open in January; February 1st is the first day of the spring term; February 19th is Ask-an-Employer luncheon featuring LTC and what they look for in hiring; TechConnect is online job search tool for students and for employers looking to hire— also posts internships and job postings are updated daily. Tammie Stahl updated on SGA student organization requirements; six clubs 100% compliance for fall; all requirements are detailed in the SGA Official Handbook and included as part of the SGA Blackboard site; Learn Lead Succeed Conference in March will feature Jon Vroman, The Front Row Guy on how to live your life in the front row—all student organizations must have a minimum of two members register/attend this conference in March; spring travel grant applications due February 10th; detergent and blanket drive winner was Dairy Club and they will get snacks provided for one their spring meetings; Campus Christian Fellowship was a close second and will also receive recognition at a spring meeting. Review Next Steps/Meeting Date: Next official monthly meeting of the LTC SGA is Monday, February 29, 2016, 12 noon to 1 p.m. in L147 (Lakeshore Conference Room). Organizational Funding Requests to be presented at this meeting are due no later than Wednesday, February 24, 2016, via SGA Blackboard. Meeting Adjournment: Anna Hebert called for a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:59 p.m. It was moved by James Worley, LCAI, and seconded by John Schanilec, Auto Maintenance Club, to adjourn the meeting.
