He joined the BBC after graduating from Imperial College in London. Working in the BBC's Research and Development department, Simon was responsible for the BBC's system for the presentation of widescreen films and RDS, the Radio Data System. Simon has led a number of mutlidisciplinary international projects, and for a number of years was the chairman of DAVIC's Applications Technical Committee, which pioneered the concepts of TV Anytime. In 1999, Simon left the BBC and is now Director of Advanced Technologies of NDS.
