LANGUAGE ASSISTANTS
EASTER, SUMMER & TOUSSAINT 2016
Langue & Nature has been employing student Assistants for
residential English language courses for over 30 years. The
courses run every Easter, Summer and Toussaint with up to
20 French teenage students attending each one.
All of our Language Assistants are employed under a Convention
de Stage and are therefore required to be enrolled on a full
time university or college course.
Each course runs for 12 days and all teaching, activities and
accommodation are in the 19th-century Chateau de la
Mazure and its annexes, set in the countryside near the town
of Laval in Mayenne (Dept.53), France.
The working day is highly structured and follows a tight
timetable, yet requires the Assistants to use lots of initiative and
common sense. Three or four members of staff work together
on a rota basis.
Assistant Responsibilities Include:
• Facilitating activities during the teenage residential courses; these include games, music, choreography, sketches, dance and sport.
• Helping the students when necessary and supervising mealtimes and evening activities.
• Some housekeeping duties.
The Language Assistant position is varied and interesting, and offers
a great opportunity to English speaking students who are studying
French to gain valuable teaching experience and to spend time
working in France.
Linguistic Profile:
• Native English speaker
• Intermediate French (spoken with some members of staff)
Personal Qualities & Skills:
• Enthusiastic, reliable, responsible, organised & motivated
• Flexible and good at working as part of a team
• Basic computer skills
