Requirements for NIHR funded projects
If you are working on a NIHR funded project, please be aware of the requirement to send them any
protocol amendment documentation for their approval prior to submission to your REC (and MHRA
if applicable).
We have recently become aware of this obligation and have requested that they add these
instructions onto their website.
The requirements are stipulated in both the pre-contracting and project activation letters as follows:
Pre-contracting letter:
If you are planning any changes to your protocol at this time please contact your programme
manager regarding approval.
Please note that if you plan to make changes to your protocol at any point after your project has
started please contact your programme manager prior to any changes being made using the
functionality available in your public project file.
Project Activation Letter:
Please remember that you should notify us of any outputs at least 28 days prior to
publication/presentation. It is also important that you request our approval before making any
substantial changes to your protocol.
