IT212 – GRAMMAR TEST Group A: Tuesday 8 December, 11-12am, H5.45 Group B: Tuesday 8 December, 5-6pm, R3.41 Dictionaries are NOT allowed when doing grammar exercises, but can be used for the writing assignment. In terms of vocabulary, consider revising the readings you have done for your oral classes. Instructions will be in English. The test will consist of about 5/6 exercises, such as: fill-in-the gaps Choose the correct verb form / Choose the correct grammar form Write the tense (e.g. future, imperative, etc) of the following verbs (verb conjugation) Re-write the sentences using the right form of… Use the right form of… Students are strongly encouraged to revise the following grammar topics – please check relevant chapters in Italian Grammar in Practice (syllabus) and lecture notes for further details on each topic: - Imperfetto (conjugation and uses) Passato prossimo (conjugation and uses) Auxiliaries (Essere vs. Avere) and agreements with past participles Regular and irregular past participles Volere, potere, dovere (passato prossimo) - Direct Object Pronouns Indirect Object Pronouns Reflexive Pronouns The particle ne The particle ci Combined pronouns and double object pronouns Position of pronouns Agreements/Positions of pronouns with past participles - Future Simple (regular and irregular forms) Future Simple (uses) - Informal imperative: affirmative/negative; regular/irregular forms; uses; position of pronouns with informal imperative - Formal imperative: affirmative/negative; uses; position of pronouns with formal imperative– you won’t be asked to conjugate the formal imperative PLEASE NOTE Failure to attend a test will result in a mark of 0 being recorded for that part of the assessment for the module. If the absence or failure to submit is owed to medical reasons, you should (i) notify the relevant module tutor and (ii) obtain a medical certificate. Please note that there is no automatic compensation of marks where a test has been missed, and the mark for that component of the module will remain 0. Similarly, there is normally no possibility to take a missed test at a later date. However, any medical or similar evidence submitted may be taken into consideration by the Board of Examiners for your degree when making a decision at the end of year regarding your progression.
