Limited Submissions
Limited submission programs have
sponsor restrictions on the number of
proposals that may be submitted by a
single institution and will require institutional screening to determine which
applications will be submitted. Dr. Jim
Guikema, Associate Vice Provost for
Research, is the internal coordinator for
limited submission programs. Please
notify him at 785-532-6195, email:
guikema@ksu.edu, by the Internal due

GENERAL
31-1 Exceptional, Unconventional
Research Enabling Knowledge
Acceleration (EUREKA) (R01) (NIH)
This FOA solicits Research Project Grant
(R01) applications from institutions/organizations proposing exceptionally innovative research on novel hypotheses or
difficult problems, solutions to which
would have an extremely high impact on
biomedical or biobehavioral research that
is germane to the mission of one or more
of the participating NIH Institutes. This
FOA is for support of new projects, not
continuation of projects that have already
been initiated. It does not support pilot
projects, i.e., projects of limited scope that
are designed primarily to generate data
that will enable the PI to seek other funding opportunities. RFA-GM-09-008

ENGINEERING, MATHEMATICS
& PHYSICAL SCIENCE
31-8 Mineral Resources External
Research Program (USGS)
The Mineral Resources Program (MRP)
of the U.S. Geological Survey is offering
a grant and/or cooperative agreement
opportunity to universities and others that
have the ability to conduct research in
topics related to non-fuel mineral
resources. The proposed work must be
research. Data collection and compilation
are important early steps in a research
project but do not, alone, constitute
research. The proposed research must
address one of the long-term goals of the
MRP: 1) Ensure availability of up-to-date
quantitative assessments of potential of
undiscovered mineral deposits; 2) Ensure
availability of up-to-date geoenvironmental assessments of priority Federal lands;
3) Ensure availability of reliable geologic,
geochemical, geophysical, and mineral
locality data for the U.S.; 4) Ensure availability of long-term data sets describing
mineral production and consumption.
