toRegulators,nationaldisastermanagementstakeholders,leadacademicians,privatesectorleaders,United
Nationsentitiesandnon-governmentalorganizations.

The2 GlobalForumonEmergencyTelecommunications:SavingLives–knownasGET-2016,willaddressissues
ofhighimportanceonhowinformationandcommunicationtechnologycanimplementtheSendaiDeclaration
adoptedbytheUnitedNationsConferenceonDisasterRiskReductionheldinSendai,Japan,inMarch2015.The
eventprovidesanopportunityforpolicymakersandotherparticipantstodebateandadoptconcretestrategies
onhoweffectivedisasterriskreductionandmanagementsupportedbyinformationandcommunication
technologycancontributetotheimplementationoftheSendaiDeclarationandFrameworkforDisasterRisk
Reduction;theattainmentoftheSustainableDevelopmentGoals;andtheimplementationoftheParis
Agreement,adoptedatCOP21inDecember2015.
Outcomes
TheadoptedoutcomesofGET-2016willprovidestrategicguidancetothenationalandinternational
community,includingITU,andwillresultinanincreasedknowledgeoftherolethateachoftheparticipating
entitiescouldplayingivingtelecommunications/ICTacentralroleindisastermitigationandmanagement.

GET-2016expectstoattractabout500participantsfromaround90countriesworldwide,aswellasfrom
regionalandnationalorganizations.PanelistsandspeakersincludeMinisters,Director-GeneralsofRegulatory
