ADDED VALUE UNIT Cairngorms National Park activity This activity is an example of a piece of work which could be carried out in the physical environment section of the course after studying glaciated scenery. It allows learners to research using the internet and encourages them to select only relevant information by forcing them to be very concise in what they have to write. It also helps them develop skills in using PowerPoint as a presentation technique. Learners are encouraged to plan their presentation using a stor yboard approach. Learners can devise the questions or alternatively planning cards could be provided for those who require more guidance (an example of what these cards might look like is given on page 3). The idea would be that these are cut up and learners could select and arrange them into the order they feel is most appropriate. This would then provide them with a template for their PowerPoint presentation.
