Introduction
First of all we would like to take this opportunity and thank you for choosing Kids on Campus.
In this handbook please find more detailed information as well as policies and procedures
necessary for the smooth running of the Summer School.
Please make sure you read through this Information Handbook thoroughly and kindly
make your child/ren aware of all the policies and procedures.
Opening Hours & Fees
Kids on Campus operates daily between 0715hrs and 1500hrs from Monday 14th July to Friday
5th September.
Parents are requested to drop off their children by not later than 0830hrs (or as otherwise
requested by Kids on Campus administration). Children can again be collected as from 1245hrs.
Parents who require to collect their children earlier are requested to first call personally at the
Administration Office.
Basic rate covers from 0815hrs to 1300hrs, but parents can avail themselves of our extended
time scheme offered daily between 0715hrs – 0815hrs and 1300hrs –1500hrs.
Please note that Kids on Campus does not operate after 1500hrs. Parents failing to pick up
their child/ren by 1500hrs will be charged an additional fee of €10 (Lm4.29) per half hour (no
pro rata rate).
Parents not making use of our prepaid Extended Time Scheme can opt for our Daily Rates.

In order to help our teachers get accustomed to the children’s names, please make sure that
children carry a clearly readable nametag on the left hand side of their top.
Supervision
To ensure safety, Kids on Campus teachers log children in their supervision files daily. Kids on
Campus requires this log to be countersigned by the adult accompanying the child to the supervision class. In the afternoon, when collecting the child, the same procedure will ensue.
It is of utmost importance that your child is accompanied to his/her supervision class. It is neither
safe nor prudent to leave your child unattended in parking areas, ring-road or outside University
grounds. Kids on Campus is not responsible for children left unattended as these would not
have been logged in and therefore our teachers will not be in a postition to monitor them.
Should for any reason, you or any authorised adult are not accompanying the child in the morning
or collecting him/her from supervision class in the afternoon, kindly let us know through a written
note, duly signed. No child will be allowed to leave our supervision without this note. This
note will be considered an authentic counter-signature in the log-in/log-out procedure.

Campus arrow signs.
University Access & Parking Facilities
University can be accessed either through the New Main Gate (opposite Mater Dei Hospital) or
through the Old University Entrance (next to Mireva Bookshop).
Parents whose children are aged 3, 4, 5 and 10/11 can make use of Car Park 5 (CP 5) and Car
Park 6 (CP 6), while parents whose children are aged 6, 7, 8 and 9 can make use of Car Park 2
(CP 2). Refer to map on page 21.
Kindly park your car in the blue parking bays. Unless University staff, refrain from parking your
cars in the white or yellow parking bays. Do not block or park in parking bays reserved for
persons with special needs.
University reserves the right to clamp and tow your vehicle if not parked appropriately.

Pick-up Authorisation Sheet
Kids on Campus administration needs to know who will be picking up the children during the
afternoon supervision sessions. Please fill in and return the Pick-Up Authorisation Sheet (page
27) by Monday 14th July, 2008.
No person will be allowed to pick up any child unless mentioned in the Pick-Up Authorisation
Sheet (parents included). If a person not on the Pick-Up Authorisation Sheet is to collect a child,
Kids on Campus Administration is to be notified by phone or a signed note providing us with
details including name, surname, ID number and the person’s relation to the child. The person
will be asked to produce his/her ID card before the child is handed over to him/her by Kids on
Campus staff.
Safety & Medical History Sheet
For added safety, nurses will be on site and will also oversee excursions.
On pages 25-26, please find a Medical History Sheet to be duly filled in and returned to us by
Monday 14th July, 2008.
The Medical History Sheet will put us in a better position to cater for the needs of your child
and take all the necessary precautions and proper action if and when an emergency arises. All
information conveyed to us in the Medical History Sheet will remain strictly confidential adherring
to the Data Protection Act 2001.

Kids on Campus does not discriminate against children on the basis of any kind of disability.
However, since there is no facilitator service available during school hours, only limited provision
may be offered.
Parents are kindly requested to inform Kids on Campus administration prior to the start of
the programme should their child have any particular special needs and therefore require a
facilitator.
Clothing & Accessories
Due to the hot summer, it is advisable that children wear light cotton clothing. Long hair should be
tied back and NO jewellery (including button earrings) is allowed. Also encourage your child to
carry a cap and wear sunblock every day and at all times.
Children in the Under Fives section are to be provided with wet wipes, an extra change of clothes.
Should your child not be already potty trained, please provide nappies.
Mobile phones and other expensive games are also NOT allowed. Communication between you
and your child can be made through Kids on Campus administration. Kids on Campus will not be
responsible for any loss or damage of such articles.
Make sure that all belongings are clearly labelled.

Swimming
On the days when the Under Fives Section and the Over Fives Section have their Splish Splash
Activities and Swimming Programme respectively, children are to come on campus already wearing
their swimming costume. Provide your child/ren with a towel and a clean change of underwear
to change into after the session.
To waste less time, kindly inflate arm bands beforehand. Our Instructors will take time to inspect
them before your child enters the water. Make sure that children (Over Fives section) have their
necessary swimming gear/aides. To ensure safety, children without their swimming gear/aides
will be refrained from participating in the session.
If your child’s swimming session is scheduled for the first hour (refer to timetable), please make
sure that s/he is in the supervision class by not later than 0830hrs. Children will leave their class
at 0845hrs sharp. In case you are late, please accompany your child directly to the Swimming
Pool Complex and ask for our teacher’s assistance at the reception desk. Never leave your child
unattended in the car park, at the pool entrance or at the reception desk.
Please note that due to FISEC Games, Swimming sessions will be cancelled on Thursday 17th
July and Friday 18th July.
Sports & Games
For the Sports & Games sessions, ALL child/ren are strictly required to wear running shoes.
Children not wearing appropriate footwear will be refrained from participating in the session.
We also recommend that your child is provided with a clean t-shirt to change into after the
session.
If your child’s Sports & Games session is scheduled for the first hour (refer to timetable), please
make sure that s/he is in the supervision class by not later than 0830hrs. Children will leave
their class at 0845hrs sharp. In case you are late, please accompany your child directly to the
Sports Hall and hand him/her over directly to the teacher. Never leave your child unattended in
the car park, or at the hall entrance.
Please note that due to FISEC Games, Sports & Games sessions will be cancelled on Wednesday
16th July, Thursday 17th July and Friday 18th July.
Arts & Crafts
Provide your child/ren with a large, labelled, old t-shirt to be worn over their clothes during
Arts & Crafts sessions. This will be kept in class at all times and will be returned at the end of
Kids on Campus. Also provide your child with a set of age-appropriate crayons and colouring
pencils. All other items and materials will be provided by Kids on Campus.
Kids on Campus also cares for the environment and we want children, even at this tender age,
to actively participate in safeguarding the environment around them. Involve your child in the
collection of safe objects that are usually thrown away at your household (example: empty toilet
paper rolls, empty cereal boxes, empty yoghurt cups, etc) and send them to Kids on Campus
to be reused in our Arts & Crafts sessions. Please make sure that all items are thouroughly
cleansed.

Cooking
Children in the Over Fives Section will be engaged in cooking activities. It is essential that
for every session your child is provided with an apron, bandana, a plastic plate and a medium
sized plastic container with lid (or as otherwise requested by Kids on Campus Administration).
Further details regarding cooking sessions will be given in due course.
Hygiene
Due to excessively hot temperatures, children may suffer from headlice. Our nurse will periodically
monitor all the children in order to avoid spreading.
If your child is suffering from this condition, do not be alarmed. Kids on Campus Administration
will contact you and guide you through the matter.
Lunch
This summer Kids on Campus will be doing its utmost to make children become more health
conscious. Make every effort to minimise your child’s use of the University’s canteen and refrain
from providing your child with unhealthy snacks and sweets.
Due to hot temperatures, provide your child with an adequate supply of drinking water. Glass
bottles and containers are strictly prohibited.
Children allocated in our Child Care Facility can make use of our refrigirator and microwave
oven.
Birthdays
If your child is celebrating his/her birthday and you wish to send a cake for him/her to share with
friends, kindly inform administration beforehand. Please refrain from sending cakes with cream
or frosting.
General Behaviour
Children attending Kids on Campus should feel they are in a caring, safe and secure
environment, free from threat of injury or haressment of any kind. Actions that may be
harmful to the person or belongings of a particular child or group of children will be dealt with
immediately and in an appropriate manner.
Children are required to exhibit appropriate behaviour throughout the whole period of Kids on
Campus. They are to respect both person and property at all hours of attendance.
Kids on Campus administration reserves the right to expel, without reimbursement, a child or group
of children who repeatedly manifest inappropriate behaviour, cause disruption to the programme
and/or represent a threat to other fellow children and/or staff.

Conditions of Use
1. Kids on Campus will not use the personal details or full names (which means first name and
surname) of any child or adult in a photographic image or on video, on our website or in any
of our other printed publications without good reason. For example, we may include the full
name of a competition prize winner if we have the parent/s’ consent. However, we will not
include the full name of a model used in promotional literature.
2. Kids on Campus will not include personal e-mail, postal address, telephone or fax numbers
on photographic images, video, website or in other printed publications.
3. If Kids on Campus uses photographs of individual pupils, these will not include the name
of that child in the accompanying text or photo caption. Alternatively, if a particular child is
mentioned in the text, his/her photograph will not be used to accompany the article.
4. Kids on Campus may include pictures of children and teachers that have been drawn by the
children.
5. Kids on Campus may use group/class photographs or video recordings with very general
labels, such as ‘a cooking lesson’ or ‘an arts & crafts lesson’.
