Department of Geosciences participates in the Earth Day 2016 On the 22nd April Department of Geosciences, represented by the Physical Oceanography Research Group, participated in the Earth Day event organized by Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School in Naxxar. Students and their tutors took interest in the variety of material displayed at the stand. PORes.Grp members of staff handed leaflets on research activities conducted by the group, introduced the audience to the oil spill modeling, surface currents monitoring, the KAPTAN smartphone application and the citizen science activities such as Spot the Jellyfish. The students and tutors were advised to use the open services designed by the PO-Res.Grp for their projects on marine-related topics. The event was attended by the Parliamentary Secretary Hon Chris Agius.
