Plans to Improve the Health-Related Research Capabilities of the University
The EA Program will provide us with the opportunity for grant and research activities that
enhance our academic programs as we strive to serve our region. In 2005, the University
launched a comprehensive campaign to seek investment in University programs by alumni,
friends of the University, corporations, and private foundations. Creating a healthier Valley is
one of the five themes of the University-wide campaign to engage the region. As part of the
effort, several research centers have been established to support faculty research and
innovative projects that will improve health care outcomes and quality of life for the diverse
communities in the area and attract external funding to further enhance academic programs.
These include the Central California Center for Health and Human Services; the Central
California Children’s Institute; the Central California Institute for Healthy Aging; the Central
Valley Health Policy Institute; and the Central California Center for Excellence in Nursing.
