A baby enrolled in AIM is also eligible for Healthy Families, unless the child is covered under employee health insurance or no-cost Medi-Cal. The Healthy Families Program was developed to offer basic health care to children living in California who are not covered under their parent’s employee health insurance, are not eligible for no-cost Medi-Cal, and meet citizenship and income requirements. Healthy Families provides comprehensive low-cost health, dental, and vision insurance for children aged 1 to 19. A baby can be enrolled in Healthy Families and still be eligible for AIM. Kaiser Permanente offers affordable health care coverage plans for uninsured children through the age of 18. The Child Health Plan can cost as little as $8 or $15 each month, per child, for up to three children (additional children are covered at no extra premium).
