SANDRA ACOSTA
Sociology
In my search for true happiness, I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with
American Humanics, Children’s Hospital of Central California, and the Hispanic College Fund. Each of these organizations have demonstrated to me the
practice of charity, and provided me the opportunities to enhance my skills to
more effectively serve others. I have come to believe in the virtue of the service.
K OUA C HA
Public Administration and Chemistry
I was able to learn important management skills through American Humanics
and apply these skills during my internship at the Girl Scouts Golden Valley
Council with the help of a great mentor, Cathy Caples, who showed me what
it takes to run an effective and efficient organization.
B ROOKS WHEELER
Nonprofit Administration
Through American Humanics, I have been able to fulfill my passion and
commitment for helping at-risk youth in our community and for raising
awareness to the growing potential and role of the cultural arts community in
the Central Valley. I feel privileged to be an AH graduate! Earning this
certificate is one of my most self-defining moments because of the relationships I’ve been able to build and the service I’ve taken part in. Every single
person in this program amazes me and has given me the courage to charge on!
RAJNEET BATH
Health Science
I started American Humanics wanting to just get certified, but it turned out to
be more than a certification. I realized the knowledge and skills I have gained
from the AH program after becoming certified and working on my own project
--from these experiences I have also gained the confidence and ability to run
my own nonprofit.
SARAH CAIRNS
Anthropology
The American Humanics Management Institute (AHMI) was an
amazing experience. I networked with students and leaders from
around the country. It was exciting to learn with so many outstanding students leaders in their own communities. The workshops
presented valuable information that I continue to reference in my
line of work. I felt honored to be a part of a well-known, nationally
accredited program. I know my experiences with AH , and especially
AHMI, will be ones that I will always remember.

I appreciate the leadership opportunities provided me at Habitat for
Humanity, having planned the annual recognition event, drafted a
volunteer outreach plan, and developed conflict resolution skills. My
experience with the American Humanics has been powerful, having
served as AHSA President and on the planning team for the 2007 AH
Management Institute. My ability to lead and set a vision for the future
growth has improved tremendously, and I am grateful to have learned
these skills and realize my capabilities to contribute to my community.
Yes, I will invest in American Humanics TODAY to create nonprofit leaders TOMORROW.
