Profile: Salma Abbasi, Chairperson and CEO, e Worldwide Group

A technologist and philanthropist, proven to be a visionary leader with dynamic drive and positive energy that motivates both, professionals and civil society. Having held a variety of senior executive positions in the corporate sector for over thirty years, she is now, Chairperson and founder of The e worldwide Group, a consortium of 37 successful companies and universities focused on providing multiple services and solutions in 4 key areas; Security and

Environment, and Management Consultancy.

She was awarded a Senior Research Associate Fellowship in the International Policy

Department at King’s College University London in 2002 and later in the conflict, security and development group (CSDG). She actively works with multiple Governments in an advisory capacity, creating strategies for developing sustainable socio economic digital inclusive societies; capacity building and innovation in youth, cyber security and counter radicalization, and policy formulation for sustainable development. Salma Abbasi is an active member of the

ITU’s High Level Expert Group (HLEG) working on the Global Cybersecurity agenda, since

2007 and she has recently joined the high level adviser’s panel of United Nations - Global

Alliance for Information Communication Technologies and Development (UN-GAID). UN-GAID is focused on providing an inclusive, multi-stakeholder global forum and platform for policy dialogue and partnership-building to promote the use of ICTs to achieve the Millennium

Development Goals (MDGs), and to enable multi-stakeholder partnerships for development

Salma extensively contributes as a key note speaker in international conferences around the world on multiple platforms, hosted by the United Nations and various Governments. The topics cover a diverse range of subjects related to ICTs supporting social economic development and peace and security.
