Christine Edmondson – Brief Biography for FLC Dr. Edmondson has been a professor in the Psychology Department since 1996. She has taught classes in Abnormal Psychology, Multicultural Psychology, Psychology of Emotions, and Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy. Her research interests have focused on diagnostic issues in emotional disorders and early identification of mental health problems in college students. She has obtained funding from the National Institute of Health for her research. Students on her research team have presented research at national conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and completed Ph.D. programs in Clinical Psychology. For many years, she collaborated with Psychological Services in planning and implementing Anxiety and Depression Screening Days and research programs. More recently, she has been focusing on Community Mental Health and exploring how Mental Health First Aid programs empower community members, gatekeepers to mental health services, and family members to support people with mental illnesses. While she has been using service learning in her classes for many years, she has recently enjoyed obtaining additional training in service learning methods through the Richter Center. Dr. Edmondson is passionate about helping college students maximize their personal and professional potential, and she looks forward to using this passion to continue to conduct research on college student mental health.
