Alternative Break Participant Application Information



Application materials must be submitted via e-mail by February 1st to altbreak@ksu.edu
Candidates will be notified via e-mail if they have been selected for interviews
Each participant will be assessed $250 for housing, transportation, food stipend, insurance,
and administrative fees
Alternative Break Participant Requirements
The Spring Alternative Break takes place from Sunday, Mar. 13 – Friday, Mar. 18, 2016
Participating in the Alternative Breaks program requires an average of 2 hours a week from
February 8 – March 11, 2016

Attend all pre and post break meetings and trainings
o 3 team meetings
o 1 individual meeting with your site leaders
o 1 service-learning intensive
o 1 post break reflection
Pre/Post break engagement
o Be prepared for all team meetings
o Foster an openness to creating and sharing new thoughts and ideas
o Help support your team’s mission and vision of service and learning
On-break engagement
o Bring an open mind and be ready to listen authentically to the service partners and your team
mates
o Maintain an open line of communication with your site leaders
o Be ready to be flexible and support the site leaders when things to not go as planned
o Support and encourage fellow team members throughout the week
