Dick’s Early Chronology:
Born in Clovis, NM in 1932
Lived in Portales,NM
from 1937 to 1949
Moved to Tucson, AZ in 1949
and finished High School there

Chronology continued:
While Dick attended Tucson High School
•  Refined his keen interest in science
•  Entered the national Westinghouse Science
Talent Search. He was awarded an Honorable
Mention for the State of Arizona.
He graduated HS in 1950 and entered the CU
Engineering Experiment Station with a scholarship.
He graduated CU with a B.S. in Engineering Physics in
1955.

In the fall of 1955 Dick entered the Air Force
He served as a Weapons Physicist at the Air Force
Armaments Center, Elgin AFB, Florida

Dick started Graduate School in the Spring of 1958
in the Astrogeophysics Department.
