Activity 2 – Transitions: Multi-agency/learning community/cluster
Materials required for this exercise:



Flipchart paper
A range of coloured marker pens
Arrange flipchart sheets around the room with the following headings:




Early years to primary
Primary to secondary
Within sector from stage to stage or from year to year
Senior phase to positive sustainable destination.

For each topic have two flipchart sheets, one headed ‘Successes’ and one headed
‘Challenges’.

Participants/groups are given a different coloured pen to record on these sheets.

Under ‘Successes’ participants are asked focus on the way you currently communicate
and involve parents in transition arrangements.

Under ‘Challenges’ participants are asked to record any challenges to communicating
and involving parents in transition arrangements.

Each participant/group retains their given colour as they move from key transition to key
transition.

Participants/groups move to the next sheet and using their given colour add to the
comments recorded by the previous group.

This activity is repeated until the participants/groups have completed all of the key
transitions.

Completed exercises are displayed for everyone to see and comments are invited from
the entire group.
