Paper I – Essay on a General Topic and Translation from Russian into English (50 marks). Paper II – Reading Comprehensions and Oral Test (75 marks). Paper III – Prescribed Texts: (A.S.Pushkin, The Snowstorm); I.Turgenev, Three sketches from a Hunter’s Album, The Looner, I.Bunin, Shadowed Paths; A.Chekov, The Darling - (75 marks). Statistics: Seven candidates registered for this examination. One candidate failed. One candidate was absent for all three papers. The lexical knowledge was quite satisfactory. The candidates’ performance in the Prescribed Texts Section indicated a good knowledge of the literature texts and the ability to express their attitude to various issues discussed in these works.
