AGENDA ITEM BACKGROUND TO: GOVERNING BOARD DATE December 6, 2010 FROM: PRESIDENT SUBJECT: Award of Contract: HON Company – Building 300 Classroom Furniture REASON FOR BOARD CONSIDERATION ACTION ENCLOSURE(S) Page 1 of 1 ITEM NUMBER C.5 BACKGROUND: As referenced in the Facilities Master Plan update building 300 is currently being renovated, and will be completed in time to hold classes (BELA and HASS) in the building February 2011. The building is 12,523 square feet and will consist of 10 general purpose classrooms and 2 larger meeting/class rooms. Staff recommends that the governing board approve awarding a contract to the Hon Company in the amount of $117,155.81 to provide and install the classroom furniture in the 12 rooms. The District will piggy-back off of the TCPN (originally named the Texas Cooperative Purchasing Network) contract R4892. FISCAL IMPACT: $117,155.81 from Measure D and State funds for the Building 300 project. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Governing Board authorize the Vice President of Business Services to award a contract to the HON Company for classroom furniture for the Building 300 renovation project.
