UNIVERSITY OF MALTA FACULTY FOR SOCIAL WELLBEING SOCIAL COMMITMENT AWARD One of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing’s most important objectives is to encourage students in their commitment towards acquiring skills and expertise to foster human dignity and harmony in society. The Faculty announces that it is granting an award, which recognises the valuable and distinctive contribution of current individual students or student groups in areas related to community volunteering, social enterprise, active citizenship and international relations, aimed at improving people's lives and promoting a healthy, harmonious society. Nominations are received in relation to students who are involved in projects or other initiatives in the social domain, which strive to create solidarity and empowerment and/or improve social conditions in the local community or abroad by counteracting injustice, inequality, poverty, stigma, discrimination, disease, or prejudice. Nominee Eligibility and Application Criteria Student nominees have to be full-time or part-time undergraduate or post-graduate students of courses offered by the Faculty for Social Wellbeing. Student nominees must be of good conduct standing with respect to the University. Nominations may be made for individual students or a student group who have worked on a joint project or initiative in the social domain. Nominations may be made by three individuals who may be University students or members of the general public. Nominations may NOT be made by University / Junior College lecturers or any other current or past tutor of the nominee/s. Selection Process Nominations will be reviewed by an adjudicating committee consisting of Prof Kenneth Wain, members of the Faculty and the KSU President. Nominations must be made without the knowledge of the nominee. Should it transpire that the student/students were aware of the nomination the student/s will be automatically disqualified from this and future nominations. Forms should be handed in at Faculty Office, Room 117, New Humanities Building B (FEMA) building. Closing date: Thursday 26th November at noon. Late applications will not be considered.
