Call for Applications Post of Part Time Research Support Officer II Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development 1. The Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development requires a Research Support Officer II to work on the review, identification, development and testing of a transport network in modelling and simulation software. 2. The ideal candidate should have obtained a Master in Engineering or Computer Science and has proven experience in the handling of modelling and simulation software such as Aimsun. Experience using the software and programming will be considered an asset. 3. This post will be for a period of 3 months. The Research Support Officer II will be expected to work up to a maximum of 70 hours and will remunerated at the rate of EUR12 per hour. 4. The Institute is currently working on a project to develop a prototype system for a Shared Demand Responsive Transport System supported by the Vodafone Malta Foundation, Mobile For Good Programme. The project requires the development of an application able to route vehicles in real time. 2. The following is a list of tasks that the appointee may be required to do. a. b. c. d. e. f. Setup Aimsun covering a small geographical area Set up the API for Aimsun in collaboration with the rest of the project team. Identify the best network map to use for the project Extend the network over a wider geographic area Test the API Attend project meetings and liaise with the team members over project issues. 3. The appointee is expected to work: a. on a part-time basis; and b. at such places and during such hours as may be determined by the University authorities. 4. The selection procedure will involve: a. scrutiny of qualifications and experience claimed and supported by testimonials and/or certificates (copies to be included with the application); and b. an interview and / or extended interview. 5. The appointment will be subject to a probationary period, and to the provisions of the Statutes, Regulations and Bye-Laws of the University which are now or which may hereafter be in force.
