Objective 2.1: Explore possibility of offering

Internship Fair for Cabrillo students.
Comments
Funding utilized for both the job fair and the volunteer fair
was eliminated in 2012 as part of the budget reductions*. In
addition, the Student Employment Coordinator’s contract was
reduced from a full time 12 month contract to a full time 11
month contract. One of the impacts of these reductions is the
elimination of these fairs.
*I was informed by Business Services that this funding was
still available as of 2014.
Recommendation: As the economy continues to improve it is
anticipated that there will be an increased demand for
Student Employment services to both students and employers
posting jobs. Therefore, consideration should be given to
increase the Student Employment Coordinator position to 12
months and continue sufficient funding to re-establish both
the Job fair and Volunteer Opportunity and Unpaid Internship
Fair.

SLO Assessment Progress
In a sentence or two, describe where your department should be with ongoing assessment (what assessment you should have done in the last
year) and what was actually done. If any task was not completed, explain why.
Surveys developed and implemented in 2010 were reviewed and revised in fall 2012. Revised surveys were conducted in spring 2013.
There are two surveys. One survey addresses the SLO “Students will be able to locate and appropriately apply for jobs.” This survey was
disseminated by survey monkey to students who were currently registered to use the on-line student job board. The second survey was
conducted one-on-one and addresses student’s knowledge of Student Employment services and how they learn about campus services. The
results of this survey let us know which of our resources students find the most valuable and how they best learn about our service.
Additionally, just the act of conducting the survey provides the student being surveyed knowledge of our office and services and assists our
office to educate students regarding resources currently available to students that assist them in being able to locate and apply for job listings.

placed on the Job Board home page so students have easy access to tips on
how to sort and apply for job openings.
Additional signage was placed on campus at the beginning of Fall 2013
indicating the availability and location of student employment services.
