yearly cost for an I-20 or estimated minimum cost for the entire period of study for a DS-2019
 The amount of funding must include tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, medical insurance,
and other expenses. Mandatory health insurance costs are included within the living expenses.
 Kansas State University assigns tuition & fees on a per credit hour basis. (Individual student needs may vary.)
Tuition estimates are for the minimum number of required hours for each classification. Also included in the
tuition & fees is the $30/semester SEVIS Compliance fee. You can view the comprehensive fee schedule at
http://www.k-state.edu/pay.
 Students and their sponsors should expect a 5 to 10 percent increase in both tuition and cost of living for each
year in attendance.

Summer Semester (3 months)
If summer will be your first semester at Kansas State University, you must be enrolled full-time during the summer
semester. This enrollment requirement would increase the estimated total expenses. Additional proof of funding must be

** Estimates for Graduate students are calculated for the academic year plus summer semester (12 months). The NonResident rate is based on 9 hours for Fall & Spring semesters and 6 hours for the Summer. The estimates for Research
Assistantships and Teaching Assistantships are based on 6 hours for Fall & Spring and 3 hours for Summer. Olathe
campus estimates are based on 9 hours at the flat rate.

Additional Financial Support for Accompanying Dependents (spouse or child under the age of 21):
Please add $7,000/each for the first two dependents and $3,300 for each all additional dependent to the minimum
expenses per year. Complete the Request for Dependent I-20 or DS-2019s available at www.ksu.edu/isss.
Sponsors:
As an international student, you can have more than one financial sponsor. You can be your own sponsor as well.
However, your sponsor cannot be someone who is holding an F-1 or J-1 non-immigrant student status in the U.S. Each of
your sponsors must complete and sign the Affidavit of Support. The Affidavit of Support must be accompanied by
financial support documentation as outlined below.
Financial Support Documentation:
Applicants shall provide credible documentation of financial support equal or greater than the estimated minimum yearly
cost for an I-20 or estimated minimum cost for the period of study for a DS-2019. Keep copies of all financial
documentation for your records. Certificates of balance are not acceptable substitutes.
Acceptable documentation includes: Bank statement from checking, savings, stock holdings, and/or certificate of
deposit, Bank letter, on letterhead, stating the date the account opened, average balance, and current balance, or a
Scholarship or sponsorship letter verifying amount, source, dates of award, and acceptable program of study.

 translated in English
 less than 12 months old
 Indicate the currency (Currency will be converted upon review)
 Have the name of account holder match completely on bank statement and Affidavit of Support.
Note: If multiple bank statement pages are submitted, be certain each page clearly reflects the same account. If the bank
statement is a corporate/business account, a letter authorizing personal use of the account must be provided.

amount required is attached to this Affidavit of Support. F-1 students must show documentation for one year or the length
of the program, whichever is less. J-1 students are required to show sufficient funding for the duration of the program
based on these yearly estimates.
