Terri reviewed the budget expenditures and requested that submissions also be
sent to her for tracking. Natalia will give her access to the Google database. The
same amount of Student Equity funds will be allocated to the same budgets for
2015-16. There will likely be an increased augmentation. The funding areas will
have a notation of whether it’s ongoing or one-time/short term.
Jennifer received approval to use her allocation for her salary for planning.
Tutoring has spent their allocation and requested $40,000 more to use in summer
and fall 2015. The committee approved that request.
For new proposals: fill out the Google doc and the request will be presented to
the committee who will then prioritize the new requests. Presentations should
include how the funds will be used and how it will impact targeted students.
Joseph proposed ranking criteria: impact, expense, scalability, data, and prospects
for institutionalization. The rubric will be shared so people will know the values
for submitting proposals. Michelle, Natalia, and Joseph will write the rubric; an
invitation will be emailed to committee members to join the group. The rubric
development team will have the rubric done by June 15.
The definition of equity for “Cabrillo College Values” was discussed.
“We strive to provide all students with equal availability of education and equal
opportunity for achievement of educational goals. “ The committee determined
the college-proposed equity definition actually defined equality and crafted a
revised definition for equality and a new definition for equity. Dennis will take
both to CPC.
Equity
As a college, we strive to examine and address the barriers our students face in
pursuit of their educational goals.
Equality
We strive to provide all students with equal availability of education and equal
opportunity for achievement of educational goals by identifying and addressing
institutional barriers.
Meeting Summary or Take Away:
1. To date, Cabrillo has not received feedback on our Student Equity Plan from the Chancellor’s Office.
