Based on the information provided by the faculty, I would certify this area. Feel free to get me or Jennifer involved if you run into any issues. Also, as a precaution, send an email to the student with an explanation of why this was allowed, in case they are questioned upon matriculation. Thanks for checking, Dawn Sheibani On Nov 1, 2011, at 12:39 PM, "carolyn jackson" <cajackso@cabrillo.edu> wrote: Hi Dawn, I'm looking for your expertise and guidance for this student: Student attended UCSD for 3 quarters, History major, now is at Cabrillo College and wants to transfer to UCSB, UCSC or UCB using IGETC. She is adamant that her MMW 3 - Medieval Heritage course had the critical thinking component that would fulfill IGETC. It is the 3rd in the series for their Reading and Composition requirement. My initial reaction was that it couldn't be used - but the attached letter from the director of the program states that in MMW 2 and MMW3 "students receive forty hours of intensive instruction in university-level argumentative writing and critical thinking" - to include "argumentation, rhetorical analysis, use of evidence .. So now I'm questioning my decision, and I'm wondering "what would Dawn say?" thank you! 11/1/2011 11:30 AM Re: UCSD course for IGETC Area 1B 2 of 2 -Carolyn Jackson Director of Articulation and Honors Transfer Program Cabrillo College (831) 479-6272 Fax: (831)479-5092 cajackso@cabrillo.edu <MMW 2 and MMW 3.pdf> 11/1/2011 11:30 AM
