President/Superintendent Goals
2015-2017
Providing Visionary Leadership through Organizational Strategy
1. Develop, implement and evaluate strategic goals for 2015-1016 Cabrillo Connects strategic plan
(see attached for this year’s goals)
a. Provide college leadership for each goal assigned to participatory governance committees
b. Communicate the goals to internal and external stakeholders
c. Ensure goals are completed and included in the college effectiveness documentation
(accreditation report; Institutional Effectiveness report; institutional annual report to the
community)
d. Research and develop an all college leadership program (see Trustee goals)
e. Determine Advancement Team output (getting college resources through a multi-pronged
advancement plan)- concentration for 2015-2016 on Economic Development partnerships
f. Develop opportunities for the board to create workshops that enhance board and college
relationships and communication
Lead both equitable and ethically to sustain resources (people, process, information,
physical/financial assets) that support the college mission, vision and goals
1. Implement and Finalize the 2 million dollar reduction plan for the college (see Trustee goals)
2. Work with Victoria Lewis and district representatives on workload considerations (see Trustee
goals)
3. Procure at least one large grant for the college (Student Services area)
4. Implement a facilities work plan that includes meeting the goals of the Educational Master plan
a. Develop the Grants office facility, staffing and budget for the college.
(see Trustee goals)
5. Ensure appropriate resources for stable enrollment opportunities – consider both north and
south county opportunities where appropriate (See Trustee goals)
Provide and receive clear communication that sustains the college mission
1. Create and deploy an all college governance/information “HUB” for the main website – this will
be a searchable site for any employee or community member to procure information from our
working committees on topics of interest
2. Begin the work on review of the college mission statement and procure the finalization of the
college values statements for use in publications spring 2016
3. Provide leadership and meeting process training for all participatory governance committees
4. Create mutual goals between the Faculty Senate , Student Senate, and Cabinet for
implementation and completion (work with the Vice Presidents of Instruction and Student
Services on this mutually agreeable goal) – consider inclusion of Trustee Goals where
appropriate

Ensure and maintain effective collaborations in the external and internal communities
1. Create, implement and evaluate a President’s Advisory group for the county (See Trustee goals)
2. Continue with community participation in selected boards and groups
3. Create and complete the first year of a three year Economic Development/Workforce Initiative
Plan for the college (See Trustee goals)
4. Consider and develop continued partnerships with Cal State Monterey (dual enrollment has
been completed as has a grant for culinary) – continue to explore mutually beneficial
opportunities
5. Continue the work on AB 86 for the county (See Trustee goals – community partnerships)
6. Support the Year of Effectiveness theme for the college by creating opportunities for college
wide input on internal effectiveness metrics as legislated through the state
7. Centralize and streamline all basic skills planning for efficient use of resources (see Trustee goals
– data inquiry and Scorecard review)
8. Create more opportunities for students to interact with the college and the community in a
productive manner
Be an effective leader in community college advocacy
1. Create a special life-long learner admissions day to advocate for our students who can no longer
repeat courses but may want to take others
2. Create an opportunity to advocate for high school articulation through joint meetings of K-12
math faculty and college math faculty (See Common Core goals through PETL committee)
3. Advocate for regional relationships that promote grants and other resources
4. Participate in League and CEO conferences that promote the community college system mission
5. Continue to serve on the ACCJC Nominating Board
6. Continue to work on increased funding for CTE programs
7. Continue to be the lead in CTE regional workshops
8. Continue to be the lead in the newly developed Central Coast CEO advocacy group – newly
formed
Promote and Model Professionalism
1. Create processes and systems that set high standards for the college culture and for continuous
improvements
a. Create responses to the Campus Culture Climate Survey
b. Connective conversations for Flex Fridays
c. Team Building and Leadership development continues for the managers
d. Increased understanding of the leadership roles on the college campus
2. Continue personal and institutional professional development for personnel, trustees and
students where appropriate and requested
