Acquire additional space in 600 building √ The former Dental Hygiene rooms are scheduled to undergo remodeling summer 2012 for new Chemistry lab space and new lecture space. Once the new lecture halls become available, we hope to be able to convert 615 into a fourth Biology lab room. New Goals and Recommendations List any new goals and recommendations identified by the department Goal/Recommendation Cost Explanation/Evidence of Need Goal 1 above has once again become our top priority. Restore lost TUs and expand course offerings. 1) We would like to restore 2 hours of class time to our BIO 201 microscope course. This was decreased from 8 hours to 4 hours, which has proven to be an insufficient amount of time for students to acquire the necessary skills, evidenced by the degradation in the condition of our microscopes. 2) Field courses have not been offered for several semesters. 3) Curriculum has been approved for several courses that we have never had the opportunity to offer (Animal Behavior, Biotechnology). If not every thing was completed, explain why. Fall 2012 is the second semester of Year Four, when Core 4 assessments are due. We completed these assessments on schedule. Our department met twice this semester to discuss SLO assessments. At the first meeting during Flex week, individual outcomes were assessed. Several of our courses have not been offered in several years due to TU cut backs. Discussion included if these courses should be suspended since assessment is not possible. Core Four outcomes were assessed at the second meeting held on 9/28/12. Fill out the Assessment Results section below.
