Nursing has been given 1 contract position to hire for Fall 14.
We need 3 and urgently need 2. So this helps toward meeting
this goal.
NCLEX pass rates have been declining since 2007-8 from
93.44% to 77.36%. In 2011-12 we had an increase to 86.211%.
However the spring class of 2013 had a pass rate of only 72%
which is below the state and national average. If trends
continue this can place accreditation at risk.
The nursing program has developed several strategies to
improve the pass rate utilizing tools to assist students to
success on the NCLEX-RN exam. Pilot projects to begin
Spring 2014, which include developing strong cohorts into
learning communities and piloting a pre-test training program
focused on increasing state board proficiency.
We have purchase Simulation Manikins and up-graded the
simulation programing to enhance the experience. Needed are
IV equipment and several hospital beds from our original plan.
Need for computers for in class testing. This equipment would
support the NCLEX testing preparation.
In addition the nursing program has an equipment list detailed
in our program plan. The program is adding equipment as
funding is obtained (please see program plan 2012 for details)
The cost for the CCPS system is currently $975.00.
The system is used to request clinical placement in the Bay
area. We currently have three hospitals that we use for clinical
placement from Palo Alto to San Jose critical for the program.
Basic non-reusable supplies are needed to use in the nursing
laboratory for nursing skill acquisition. For supplies such as
dressing materials, syringes, needles, IV supplies and kits.

The nursing program collects a large amount of data for planning. A

planning.
SLO Assessment Progress: In a sentence or two, describe where your department should be on the Revolving Wheel of Assessment (what
assessment you should have done in the last year) and what was actually done. If not every thing was completed, explain why.
The Nursing program completed all scheduled SLOs planned for Spring 2013 and Fall 2013. The program is on target with SLO measures at
the time of this report. Data Collection is in process for the following courses, N14, N24, N34, N44 to be completed at the end of Fall 2013.
Data presentation and analysis will be done flex week spring 2014 when all adjunct faculty will be present.
Fill out the Assessment Results section below.
