This program includes weekly lessons and participation
in the Friday Ensembles. Instruction is offered on violin,
viola, cello and string bass for students ages 5–18. The
Suzuki method and other string methods are based on
the natural process through which a child learns language. The parent is often given instruction for coaching
the child at home. Setting aside a regular time to work
closely with the child at home is the single most important ingredient for success. Emphasis is on the enjoyment
of playing for family and friends, and students perform
only what they can play well. You can prepare your child
for lessons by listening to the tape or CD of Suzuki Volume 1 repertoire.
The schedule and fees for private lessons are arranged
with the individual instructor (please see faculty list below
for contact information). Students have the opportunity
to perform in the recital held at the end of each semester.
