Limited Submissions
Limited submission programs have
sponsor restrictions on the number of
proposals that may be submitted by a
single institution and will require institutional screening to determine which
applications will be submitted. Dr. Jim
Guikema, Associate Vice President for
Research, is the internal coordinator for
limited submission programs. Please
notify him at 785-532-6195, email:
guikema@ksu.edu, by the Internal due
date listed in the Funding Bulletin (FB
21-1) or by at least two months prior to
the sponsor deadline if you wish to submit to a limited submission program.

workforce. ADVANCE also has as its
goal to contribute to and inform the general knowledge base on gender equity in
the academic STEM disciplines. There
are three tracks with distinct purposes:
the Institutional Transformation (IT)
track; the Institutional Transformation

21-3 Pilot/Feasibility Projects for
Agricultural Health (GPCAH)
The Great Plains Center for Agricultural
Health (GPCAH) is pleased to announce
a new round of applications for its small
grants program. Proposals can be from
two areas: Academic research pilot grant
projects: The goal of the academic
research pilot grant program is to create
new agricultural safety and health
knowledge and to assess and promote
best safety and health practices. Academic research projects are typically submitted by students, staff, and faculty of
academic institutions. Basic and applied
research projects from academic institutions will be judged for scientific merit
and compared only to other projects from
academic applicants. Community-based
pilot grant projects: The goal of community-based pilot grant projects is to
enhance capacity to deliver evidencebased agricultural health programs.
Community-based projects are typically
submitted by staff employed by nonprofit community entities delivering
agricultural safety and health programs.
Community-based projects will be
judged for feasibility and potential
impact compared to other projects from
community based groups.

Programs (Partnership Grants) (ED)
The GEAR UP Program is a discretionary
grant program that provides funding for
academic and related support services to
eligible low-income students, including
students with disabilities, to help them
obtain a secondary school diploma and to
prepare for and succeed in postsecondary
education. Services must include providing financial aid information, encouraging enrollment in challenging coursework
in order to reduce the need for remediation at the postsecondary level, and
implementing activities to improve the
number of students who obtain a high
school diploma and complete applications
for and enroll in a program of postsecondary education. GEAR UP funds may also
be used to provide a number of additional
support services such as mentoring, tutoring, academic and career counseling, and
exposure to college campuses. EDGRANTS-060414-001 (GG 6/4/14)

21-9 Foreign Language and Area
Studies Fellowships Program (ED)
This notice invites applications for two
separate competitions. The NRC Program
provides grants to institutions of higher
education and consortia of such institutions to establish, strengthen, and operate
comprehensive and undergraduate foreign

21-11 NSF/Intel Partnership on CyberPhysical Systems Security and Privacy
(NSF)
The national and economic security of the
United States depends on the reliable
function of critical infrastructure. An
already-large and rapidly growing part of
this infrastructure is being advanced
through the integration of information and
communication technologies (ICT), leading to cyber-physical systems (CPS).
Advances in CPS will enable capability,
adaptability, scalability, and usability that
will far exceed the simple embedded systems of today. CPS technology will transform the way people interact with
engineered systems—just as the Internet
has transformed the way people interact
with information. New smart CPS will
drive innovation and competition in sectors such as food and agriculture, energy,
different modes of transportation including air and automobiles, building design
and automation, healthcare and medical
implants, and advanced manufacturing.
Cyber-physical systems are subject to
threats stemming from increasing reliance
on computer and communication technologies. The goal of this partnership
between NSF and Intel is to foster novel,
transformative, multidisciplinary
approaches that ensure the security of current and emerging cyber-physical systems, taking into consideration the unique
challenges present in this environment
relative to other domains with cybersecurity concerns. NSF 14-571 (GG 5/30/14)
