‘All The World’s A Stage’ in Cabrillo’s Theatre Arts Department
Production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It
Opens April 18 and Plays Through May 4
Aptos, CA— Cabrillo College’s Theatre Arts Department presents Shakespeare’s pastoral comedy As You LIke
it, playing April 18 through May 4 in the intimate Cabrillo Black Box Theater. There will be a special student
performance on Friday, April 25 at 10:00 AM.
As You Like It follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle’s court, accompanied by her
cousin Celia and Touchstone the court jester, to find safety and, eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden. The
play features one of Shakespeare’s most famous and oft-quoted speeches, “All the world’s a stage,” and is the
origin of the phrase “too much of a good thing.” The play remains a favorite among audiences and has been
adapted for radio, film, and musical theatre.
Shakespeare’s romantic comedy will be uniquely staged in the upcoming Cabrillo production, with the
audience being placed in close proximity to the actors, much like the theatre-going experience of the
Elizabethian-era production. Sarah Albertson, Director, and Skip Epperson, Set Designer, have collaborated on
many environmental stagings in the past, most recently in the Cabrillo production of Chekhov’s Three Sisters.
