The one-day event draws over 80 students each year. This year the popular workshops will host musical theatre star and director Andrew Ceglio, who will teach a workshop on musical theatre performance technique. Ceglio, who is known as a “triple threat” will share his wisdom and experience to help students gain strong performance skills which include singing, dancing, acting and comedic timing. Ceglio is what Good Times critic Lisa Jensen called, “Cabrillo Stage’s one-man secret weapon.” He has directed and/or starred in a Cabrillo Stage show every season since 2005. He was the lead in this summer’s Anything Goes, in 2011’s The Last 5 Years, 2010’s Cabaret, 2009’s The Wizard of Oz as the Scarecrow, and many more. He has also directed Stage’s Christmas productions including Scrooge and Plaid Tidings. Andrew has also performed for Theatre On San Pedro, and Marquee Productions among many other. He played Willy Wonka in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory with Tabard Theatre, and Snoopy in Charlie Brown with Jewel Theatre. Aside from his work on the stage, Andrew is also an active voice over artist and can be heard on a number of video games for the Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo DS game consoles. Nowadays, Andrew spends most of his time as the Founding Artistic Director of Spotlight Stage, a new youth theatre company whose mission is to provide quality professional training in the arts for Santa Cruz youth ages 9 - 17. www.spotlightstage.com. The all–day workshops, taught by Cabrillo faculty and visiting artists such as Andrew Ceglio promise students a great time learning new skills and techniques in theatre arts, as well as getting to know other students who are interested in theatre and sharing information.
