General a. Provide all circulation piping between the main (pool water) filter loop located in the pool mechanical room and the solar collector field with associated glycol loop. b. Provide all associated balancing valves, servo valves, check valves, service valves, heat exchangers, pumps, flow meters, temperature sensors and other plumbing components necessary and associated with the solar pool heating system. c. Provide all (56) 4’X10’ solar collectors and ground mounting and bracketing hardware. d. Provide solar heater control and monitoring system. e. Provide all other tubing, conduit, or piping associated with the equipment specified herein. Coordinate with other trades. B. Pipes a. Pipe routing as shown and detailed on the contract drawings is diagrammatic only and is not intended to show minor details or exact locations of piping systems. Installation is required to be adjusted to accommodate interference and other project details as encountered. Pipe sizes on plans refer to nominal inside diameter of the pipe. b. All rigid PVC piping shall be NSF approved, schedule 80 CPVC. Any connections between metallic piping and/or equipment and CPVC shall be flanged. c. All closed loop glycol piping shall be copper, cast iron, stainless steel or exterior rated stainless steel flex. d. All exposed exterior piping shall be insulated with Techlite 379 series 1” jacketed foam pipe insulation or equivalent, outdoor rated, jacketed, with insulation minimum R5 value. e. All materials shall be installed by workmen thoroughly skilled in their trades and all work shall present a neat and professional appearance when complete. The CONTRACTOR, at no additional expense to the owner, shall replace or correct any work not judged acceptable by the Architect, Design Supervisor, Owner’s testing agency or their consultants, or County Health department or CSI inspectors. f. No installation shall be made that will provide a cross-connection or interconnection between a distributing supply for drinking water purposes and the swimming pool, or between the pool and either: the glycol loop; or a sanitary or storm water sewer system that will permit a backflow of water or other fluids between systems. g. All piping shall be hydrostatically (water) pressure tested for leaks before and after backfilling to guarantee water tightness. Pneumatic (air) pressure test not allowed. h. Provisions shall be made to drain and purge all piping loops in the system. C. Plumbing Components a. With the exception of check valves and pump service valves, all valves 3” and larger shall be butterfly type valves. All flow meters, pumps valves, pressure relief valves, heat exchangers and other plumbing components shall be suitable for the chemical and temperatures encountered in their intended use…….schedule 40 PVC is specifically deemed unacceptable anywhere in the system. b. All heat exchangers in the system shall be insulated with R5 insulation or greater and said insulation shall be protected from contamination or damage from water or airborn chemicals in their expected operating environment.
