Asked for funds to promote ski and snowboard sale which raises monies to allocate to
students in the form of scholarships.

Informed at hurricane Katrina relief debriefing that California has not waived out of
state tuition costs. Requests that Senate work to remedy the situation

Requested sponsorship of dance group to go to dance competition
Special Presentation

Requesting senate sponsorship of Senate Bill 840 (Universal Health Care). Every
resident would be covered by comprehensive health care. Funds come from existing
funds (federal and state taxes)

President’s Report
10 minutes
The president made clear her disappointment with late arrivals and absences. Kristina's
illness has gotten worse. Lysette has become ill as well. The next meeting will be at the
Watsonville location, 318 Union Street.

Review and Vote on Applications for New Senators
After an extensive question and answer session Mario motioned to vote on Nicki’s
application to be a senator. The motion was seconded by Nicole. Senators noted that
although she is very busy her schedule reflects dedication and commitment.

Nicki was sworn in as a new senator at 3:50. She would like to improve the school’s
recycling program and maintain the aesthetic integrity of the school’s existing
structures.

1. AGS Publicity
AGS requests funds for newspaper ads in four (4) papers to publicize fundraiser event.
The issue will be brought back as an action item in a coming meeting

3. Bus Strike
2,400 Students have purchased bus passes, approximately 20,000 riders in Santa Cruz
are affected by the strike. The senate noted that the carpool board is not being promoted
as extensively as it could be, that commutesolutions.org isn’t as helpful as it could be
and perhaps there could be some cooperation between the Senate and the Santa Cruz
Workers Union. The issue will be brought back as an action item in an ensuing
meeting.

feedback concerning bus strike.
