Aileen Monaghan – biography Aileen joined HM Inspectorate of Education in 2008 and is currently national specialist for music. Before that she was one of the team of writers for Curriculum for Excellence (Expressive Arts team) seconded from her substantive post as a Principal Teacher of Music to work with Learning and Teaching Scotland. Aileen was also a Music Technology Consultant for 14 years and a member of ‘Masterclass’ – a team of experienced practitioners funded by the government to help advance ICT skills. Indeed, she won a BECTa Secondary Teachers’ ICT in Practice Award for the best use of technology in a UK classroom. Her pupils also won an award for creative use of music composition using technology. As a highly experienced teacher she is acutely aware of the skills needed to give teachers confidence teaching music and embedding technology within music. She has written articles on the use of technology for a variety of publications and organisations.
