Faculty-Led Study Abroad Faculty-led programs are short-term study tours over breaks, intersessions, or summer in which you learn and travel with a K-State professor and students. Cultural activities and excursions are often included. Exchange Program Exchange programs allow you to pay in-state tuition and fees while attending one of our more than eighty partner universities abroad. These programs offer you a more independent experience and are generally for a semester or academic year. Summer Program Summer term is one of the most popular times for K-State students to go abroad, as you can take coursework or volunteer for a shorter and often less expensive program. Choose a faculty-led program that may run during May or summer term, or go on a summer exchange to or directly enroll in a university abroad. Past programs included: Food Industry and Culinary Tour of Barcelona This tour was an eleven-day intensive Food Science study tour that introduced students to the production of local food products and traditions of the region in and around Barcelona, Spain, with particular emphasis on quality and safety. Food and Agriculture Study Tour of France This fifteen-day study tour introduced students to the food and agricultural industries in France, including food processing, safety and management, livestock production and management practices, crops and viticulture. Beef and Sheep Industry Tour of Argentina A thirteen-day intensive Animal Science study tour that introduced students to the beef and sheep industry in Argentina. Also included were livestock and crop production and management practices, as well as other history and cultural educational opportunities. Food Industry Tour of Italy This tour was a twelve-day intensive Food Science study tour that introduced students to the production of local food products and traditions of Tuscany with particular emphasis on quality and safety. Equine Study Tour of Ireland and the UK This course was an eighteen-day intensive Animal Science study tour that introduced students to the equine industry in Ireland, Scotland, and England, including production and management practices, major breeds and uses, and educational opportunities in the UK. This program includes many excursions to Czech farms, including a five-day study tour and a weekend stay with a family. No prior knowledge of Czech is necessary, as all courses are taught in English. Toulouse, France $9,426.40* École Supérieur d’Agriculture, Purpan In the on-campus program in June, students take classes in English on topics including European animal production and crop production and food processing. Students will also take intensive French courses. In July, students may participate in a four-week internship program in animal production, agro-tourism, plant production, or vineyards/wineries. The program includes many cultural excursions and outings to agricultural production sites. No prior knowledge of French is necessary. You can participate in a spring semester course coupled with a service project involving issues like health, education, the environment, and youth development during an eight to ten week stay abroad during the summer.
