This National Aeronautics and Space Administration NRA “Research Opportunities in Space
Biology (ROSBio) - 2016", solicits Space Biology research in support of NASA’s Science Life and Physical Sciences Research and Applications Divisi on. “ROSBio-2016” is an Omnibus NRA covering all aspects of basic and applied research and technology supporting Space
Biology. Research opportunities will be announced during the year by Appendices to this
Omnibus NRA to solicit proposals for experiments that address one or more of Space Biology’s primary goals: 1) use microgravity and the other characteristics of the space environment effectively to enhance our understanding of basic biological processes; 2) develop the scientific and technological foundations for a safe, productive human presence in space for extended periods and in preparation for exploration; and 3) apply this knowledge and technology to improve our nation's competitiveness, education, and the quality of life on Earth.
“ROSBio-2016” will be released on or about March 24, 2016. It can be found by opening the
NASA Research Opportunities homepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and then linking through the menu listings "Solicitations" to "Open Solicitations." Appendices may have specific eligibility requirements that differ from those in the Omnibus NRA, and it is the proposer’s responsibility to understand those requirements. Unless specified in an individual Appendix,
Principal Investigators may collaborate with investigators from universities, Federal Government laboratories, the private sector, state and local government laboratories and other countries, with the exception of China.
Every organization that intends to submit a proposal in response to an Appendix issued with
ROSBio-2016 must be registered with NSPIRES, and such registration must identify the authorized organizational representative(s) who will submit electronic proposals. Instructions on how to register in NSPIRES are described in this omnibus NRA. Each electronic proposal will require the registration of principal investigators and other participants (e.g. co-investigators).
Potential proposers and proposing organizations are urged to access the system(s) well in advance of the proposal due date(s) to familiarize themselves with its structure and enter the requested information. This is a broad agency announcement as specified in FAR 6.102 (d)(2). All awards resulting from selections of proposals to future Appendices will be grants or cooperative agreements.
