1. Approval of Agenda
o Added to the Announcement section an online chat with President Schulz on April
11th at 6:30 pm.
2. Approval of March 7, 2011 GSC meeting minutes
o Approved without changes.
3. Officer elections
o Due to the lack of quorum of organization representatives, we will need to have an
electronic ballot which will be sent out soon.
o Candidates that were present gave speeches. Those that were not present sent short
notes which were presented by Megan.
4. Officer reports
o President
 Megan gave personal comments on how GSC has improved while she has
been involved and how much she has enjoyed being involved in the
organization.
o President-Elect
 Long-term tuition planning committee met and settled on a 3.96% increase.
o There was a positive vote on providing $1 million to fund GRA tuition
remission.
o This will then be sent to the Board of Regents and President Schulz.
o Treasurer
 SGA FY10 Travel Grant Funds

 Financial report was approved without changes.
o Secretary
 Three organizations have re-registered.
 The 8020 committee met last month and wrapped up the Cats in the Capital
event. They will be meeting in April to help acquaint the new representatives
of the student body to the committee. If anyone is interested in representing
GSC, please contact me.
 The Student Affairs committee met on March 15th and discussed the new form
for distance graduate students that allows them to defend their thesis/report
via video conferencing or similar methods as long as their committee
approves. Also there will be a vote in April on the issue of allowing an
increase of the number of hours undergraduates can count as Dual Credit
between their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from 9 to 12.
o Advisor report
 Dr. Shanklin
o Search for the Associate Dean is continuing.
o Thank you to all of those who have served in leadership positions this
year.
o Saracheck selection committee made their winners public: Maruicio
Montera Asura won the Fellowship. Erica Cain and Mr. Mory won the
$1,000 travel grants.
o April 18th is the deadline for the KSURF. This is for those researchers
who have potentially patentable material.
o Please participate in the K-State Research Forum which is on April
20th. This is not only helping in the event, but also visiting with them
on that day.
o April 5th is the deadline for people to have their name appear in the
program who are intending to defend this semester.
5. Graduate Student Senate reports—Austin Wilhoit
o Next week the new graduate student senators will be sworn in then we will know if
there are any open slots which need to be filled.
6. Committee Reports
o Allocations – Graciela Andrango
 Please apply for Fall Travel Grants by April 15. This is the period between
July 1-September 31
o Capitol Graduate Research Summit – Megan Miller
o K-State Research Forum – Matthew Sellner
 Thank you for your help in the setting up and execution of the event.
o Student Affairs – Gayla Adams-Wright
 Ice cream social is planned for April 27th and will be on the east side of
Fairchild Hall.
 Will be asking for donations to be given to the Flint Hills Breadbasket
o Fundraising – William Zorrilla
 No report.
o Professional Development Seminar Series - OPEN
o Health Insurance – Courtney George
 No report.
o International Student Affairs Committee – Mauricio Montero Astua and Manpreet
Rai
 Plans for the panel discussion during International Week are moving forward.
o Awards and Recognition – Liz Frink
 Handed out the hard copy version of the mid-term newsletter and currently
working on getting inputs for the end of the semester version.
