Perth College – AEV Excellence Electronic CV produced through amended Personal Development Planning (PDP) process NC Sound Production learners were not engaging well during PDP sessions. Activities scheduled included completion of pre-set booklets covering equality and diversity and numeracy-related topics. To promote improved recording and presentation of curriculum-related achievement, learners were introduced to website design software. They were supported to develop a personalised website for hosting and showcasing academic achievement and vocational skills development. The website forms an excellent discussion medium for conversations held with prospective employers or during progressing interviews with HE providers. PDP sessions became the focus of website designing and populating activities. Learners populate their websites with work developed throughout their period of study and post all completed assessment material for NC Sound Production programme. Working on their websites throughout the year helps learners to reflect on their own learning and ensure assessments are completed timeously. Content hosted include video, audio and music files. This approach, through effective use of digital media, supports effectively internal mediation and external verification conducted by staff and external verifiers. For learners the website approach highlights the relevance of programme content and helps map development of employability skills which is prerequisite for progression onto employment or further learning. Since introduction of this initiative withdrawal rates have reduced and completed successful outcomes have improved on NC Sound Production programme from 45% in 2010-11 to 67% in 2011-12. Staff attribute improvement in PI values to closer integration of NC module assessments since introduction of PDP website design and hosting initiative. This approach supports improved levels of engagement by learners and ensures learners leave college with a comprehensive record of achievement.
