Jordan Priddle jpriddle@ka state.edu – 785.410.4480 5601 Powercat Place, Manhattan, KS 66503 Restorative – Belief – Activator – Developer – Empathy Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life 214 K-‐State Student Union Manhattan, KS 66506 Dear Search Committee, I was elated to hear that the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is hiring two assistant directors. Having worked as a graduate assistant in this office for the past year, I have the experiences in advising, programming, and recruitment this position requires. Those experiences paired with my professional demeanor and passion for student development make me an ideal candidate. Since I began working for the Office of Greek Affairs this January, a large part of my graduate assistant role has been advising. I advised several members of both the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council board of directors on academic initiatives, membership recruitment, and educational programs. I co-‐advised the entirety of the Interfraternity Council with my director last spring, which involved weekly executive meetings, bi-‐weekly President meetings, and countless office hours working to improve the fraternity experience. This fall I transitioned to co-‐advising the Panhellenic Council, which brought new challenges. As a co-‐advisor with another graduate student, I had the responsibility of communicating policies, upholding officer expectations, and navigating the election of the upcoming board. I also have experience advising chapter presidents, as I served as the office liaison for ten chapter leaders. I have ample experience developing educational and leadership programs. As a graduate assistant for the Academic Assistance Center I revamped a 16-‐week curriculum taught by 20 peer instructors to more than 400 students. I also created and implemented the training for these peer instructors which included professional development, classroom management techniques, as well as the curriculum. This spring I had the opportunity to develop an extra-‐curricular leadership course for the Office of Greek Affairs. I taught this ten-‐week course to more than 60 first and second-‐year Greek students who wanted to develop their conflict resolution skills, address social justice issues, and apply leadership principles to their personal chapters, our campus, and the community. From a week-‐long retreat to an hour-‐long program, I have experience planning developmental programs for college students. This August I had the opportunity to coordinate formal sorority recruitment as a professional, having previously managed recruitment on a chapter level as membership vice president. I became proficient in the Release Figure Methodology tool, Campus Director, and was able to communicate its capabilities to chapter advisors and potential new members. Despite the week’s hectic schedule, I remained professional and positive in all interactions with parents, students, and advisors. Late one night I was able to effectively communicate with an angry advisor over the phone by listening to her concerns and then responding with our policies and how she might comply. I also have worked with the Interfraternity Council to develop recruitment programs, such as virtual hang outs and prospective member resources. My in-‐depth experience with recruitment adds to my qualifications for this position. Finally, my higher education experiences have shaped me into a trustworthy professional, able to build rapport with constituents across functional areas. Working in Greek life, I have had the opportunity to communicate with advisors, housing corporation board members, house directors, current and prospective students, and parents of those in Greek life, all of which have different needs and desires. During my time as a practicum student in the Office of Student Life I worked with a wide variety of campus entities. A perfect example of this would be working with the critical incident response team which brings together student life, general counsel, campus police, an academic college, and others. I have a proven track record of connecting with campus and community stakeholders. I believe that I would bring a positive, experienced presence to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life while continuing to serve all facets of the K-‐State community in the new role of Assistant Director. Thank you for your time and consideration. Fraternally, Jordan Priddle Jordan Priddle jpriddle@k-‐state.edu – 785.410.4480 5601 Powercat Place, Manhattan, KS 66503 Restorative – Belief – Activator – Developer – Empathy Education Kansas State University – Manhattan, KS Masters of Science: Counseling and Student Development (Student Affairs) Concentration: Higher Education Administration Kansas State University – Manhattan, KS Bachelor of Science: Family Studies and Human Services Minors/Concentrations: American Ethnic Studies December 2015 GPA: 4.00 May 2013 GPA: 3.93 Higher Education Experience Of#ice of Greek Affairs January 2015 – Present Graduate Assistant • Co-‐advise the eight-‐member Panhellenic Council board of directors, their committees, and all sorority initiatives
