Strategic Curriculum Planner, focused on the responsibility of all
This hypothetical example demonstrates another possible use for the strategic curriculum planner and how it might be used to:
 focus on a particular aspect of Curriculum for Excellence development, in this case the three responsibility of all areas
 summarise on one page the school’s vision (the red text) and the steps it plans to take towards this during the current session (the black
text)
Summarising the school’s intentions in this way may also be a useful way of sharing this information with key stakeholders in the school
community, for example staff, parents and partners.
Strategic Planner, ROA focus overview
Red text describes the school’s vision for literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing.
Black text summarises the steps the school plans to take towards their vision in the current session.

Principles
All learners are supported appropriately to ensure
coherence in developing skills in literacy,

involved in the personal learning planning
process.
The principles are applied systematically across
all learning in literacy, numeracy and hwb.
• review our current PLP processes and consider how
they might be adapted to reflect progression in
literacy, numeracy and hwb
• consider how we are developing progression in
literacy and hwb
Entitlements
There is a continuous strong focus on literacy,
numeracy and hwb across all learning and
transitions.
• consider transition arrangements in relation to
transfer of learning in literacy, numeracy and hwb
with staff at our feeder secondary school
• review current partnerships with the world of work
Assessment
Progress in literacy, numeracy and hwb is
tracked and monitored consistently in line with
local and national expectations.
• use quality marked NAR examples to consider how
the assessment process might work for literacy,
numeracy and hwb across learning and
