SESSION 1 “IMPLEMENTATION OF OUTSIDE PLANT” Mr.Huc - Mr. Montalti Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions 1) Development of Outside Plant in VNPT • Comprehensive overview of VNPT network situation, including access • Overview of possible technology approaches • Ideas and activities planned by VNPT to develop the network 2) Construction of Optical Network in access area • Practical methods and different solutions to introduce fiber in the access • Description of main components, optimization of solutions • Results of NTT extensive deployment 3) Overview of new installation techniques • Issues to be faced in the deployment of access network • Fields of application of new technologies • Advantages of new installation techniques Outside Plant for the Access Network Workshop Hanoi, 24 November 2004 SESSION 1 FOLLOW-UP Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions 1) MPT to promote, in cooperation with regional relevant Entities by means of ITU Regional/Area offices, activities on: • Environmental installation / operation conditions • Provision to rural area of connection to the backbone • network by means of: Wireless, Satellite, cable… 2) Some of the above could be proposed to the next meeting of SG 6 as matter of future studies for the next study period. Outside Plant for the Access Network Workshop Hanoi, 24 November 2004 SESSION 2 STANDARDIZATION IN THE ACCESS NETWORK Mr. Trung – Mr.Reggiani Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions • Outside Plant Standardisation Activities in Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications corporation(VNPT) Mr. Vu Hong Son • Update on ITU-T Q16/15 - G.695, CWDM system interfaces: the black link Mr. T. A. Hanson • Optical fibre cable network maintenance Mr. Hisashi Izumita Outside Plant for the Access Network Workshop Hanoi, 24 November 2004 SESSION 2 FOLLOW-UP 1) Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions The concept of test light by bypass, described during the presentation of Mr. Hisashi Izumita - NTT could be applied on outside plant in Vietnam. 2) ITU recommendations and Handbooks, and especially Outside Plant documents can support RIPT (Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications) on the work on: • elaboration of new national criteria and procedures for construction, operation, management and maintenance of Vietnam outside plant infra-structure; • patronization and spreading of the national standards within the engineering areas of the different local telecom operators 3) The Vietnam specialist involved with metropolitan optical networks project must be aware of the opportunities related with new concepts like black link. Outside Plant for the Access Network Workshop Hanoi, 24 November 2004 SESSION 3 Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions NEW TRENDS IN ACCESS TECHNOLOGY AND MULTIMEDIA SERVICES Mr. Hoam – Mr.Tomita • Diversification - Technologies (POTS, ISDN, xDSL, fibre, mobile phone, wireless LAN) - Customer’s purposes (e-mail, Communication, Collaboration, Conference) - Contents (Text, Picture, Voice, Movie ) - Decision is made by a customer. - Carrier has to be ready to provide multiple services. Hard issue for the outside plant? Standardization is needed. Outside Plant for the Access Network Workshop Hanoi, 24 November 2004 SESSION 3 FOLLOW-UP Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions • The convergence of telecommunication – Internet – information technology is moving fast. Many new access technologies appear. • Operator need to look very closely, catch-up to the development of technology: in labs, in trial, in practice, standardisation needed (for example: FTTx, PLC…- new for Vietnam). • Carry out studies: understanding the technology, knowing the advantages, disadvantages • Prepare for the introduction: trial, commercial. Important: technology is to serve the customers. Outside Plant for the Access Network Workshop Hanoi, 24 November 2004 SESSION 4 Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions REGULATORY ISSUES IN THE ACCESS NETWORK Mr. Binh – Mr. Lauria • Some maters concerning access network of new entrants (Mr. Tran Thanh Binh - Vietnam) - The presentation provided condition of Vietel’s access and some point of building of standard to apply for access network • Unbundling criteria in the Access Network (Mr. C. Lauria - Brazil) - A view of the role of ITU-T and SG-6 was presented, with points that must be taken into account when dealing with unbundled network elements Outside Plant for the Access Network Workshop Hanoi, 24 November 2004 SESSION 4 FOLLOW-UP Study Group 6 Hanoi Workshop Conclusions • ITU-T should provide a policy to support developing countries to deploy access network, especially for broadband services, build of standard for access network. • ITU-T should concentrate efforts to help the unbundling of network elements to guarantee the a stress-free environment with proper technical solutions to ensure the network integrity, availability and quality of service, ease use of equipment, interoperability and physical access security.
