Requirements


Officers must maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout the year. Class Presidents must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a
member of ASB. They must also be responsible students who demonstrate the characteristics of a leader
in and out of the classroom.
All candidates must attach their most recent transcript along with this application.
Candidates who are running for President must have a speech that will be read during lunch in the quad.
Responsibilities




President- The President will be admitted into ASB for the upcoming year and will take on the lead
responsibility of Lipsync, a school dance, and any other events. He or she will oversee the other cabinet
members and guide them.
Vice-President- The Vice-President will execute the duties of the President in his or her temporary
absence.
Secretary- The Secretary will assist the President and will record minutes for class office meetings.
Treasurer- The Treasurer will assist the President and handle financial issues such as quarterly fundraisers
and other potential fundraisers.
Rules & Guidelines





Each candidate is allowed 1 large poster to be hung in the quad
- You may have as many flyers as you want BUT GET ONE STAMPED FOR
APPROVAL BEFORE YOU MAKE COPIES
- Flyers may be posted outside and on any “Activities” bulletin board (no more than
three flyers per board)
- Flyers have to be 8x11 or smaller.
- Flyers ARE NOT ALLOWED on indoor wall, glass atriums, or glass windows on doors
- Stickers are not permitted. (Zero Tolerance)
Campaigning is to start at 7:30AM of election week. (Do not start campaigning earlier or you
may be disqualified.)
All flyers and posters must be taken down by 3:15PM the Friday of election week.
You may only spend $50.00 maximum on your campaign. All donated items will be taken for
face value and included in the total. You MUST turn in all of your receipts when you turn in
your campaign materials for approval.
Any form of inappropriateness may result in disqualification

ATTENTION PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATES: These are the ONLY things you will be able to
discuss during your two-minute speech
1. What positive change will you bring to LQHS?
2. What do you want to improve at LQHS?
3. Why should the student body vote for you?
You MAY NOT have the following in your speech:
1. Sexual innuendo
2. Non-dress code attire
3. Ethnic humor
4. Gang related behavior
5. Bodily function humor
6. Violence, real or inferred
7. Profanity

ADDITIONAL CAMPAIGNING REQUIREMENTS

You MUST use blue painter’s tape on the outside walls for posters and fliers

You may post three flyers maximum on “Activities” Boards

Do not post more than 5 flyers together in any one spot (for example, do not
plaster 50 flyers together to create one huge “flyer”)

All flyers and posters must be removed by Friday at 3:15PM

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE ARE YOU ALLOWED TO CAMPAIGN
NEAR THE VOTING BOOTHS

DO NOT CROSS THE LINE ASB HAS MARKED IN THE QUAD

DO NOT GIVE “TREATS”, REWARDS, PRIZES, OR ANYTHING ELSE
THAT COULD BE MISCONTRUED AS A “BRIBE” TO VOTERS IN
LINE -THIS WILL BE INTERPRETED AS AN ATTEMPT TO SOLICIT
VOTES AND IS AGAINST THE RULES

CANDIDATES NOT BEHAVING IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER MAY
BE REMOVED FROM THE ELECTION PROCESS
