Pictures/ graphics throughout
Research on topic for 1830’s/ 40’s with in-text citations
Research on topic for modern times with in-text citations (connect to date of release if nec.)
Passage/s from HF (min. of 1 direct quote w/ page #s in MLA format) with interpretation
Song lyrics (min of 4 lines) with title, artist, and date of release attributed along with
interpretation and other relevant information*Play song when showing lyrics
6. Analysis paragraph: In a min. of 5-7 sentences, include the following…

Identify the topic in the novel incorporating your evidence with MLA documentation

Analyze the topic in the time period based on your research. Use MLA format to cite any
quotes from the novel and include page numbers.

Compare/ contrast the topic in the 1830’s/40’s to modern times. You may use the
sentence frames if you need help.

Make a final comment on your topic. This can be a call to action or just a final analysis.
7. Comprehension check: Have a short quiz question related to your analysis at the end of your
presentation to hold the class accountable. Optional: You may give prizes as an incentive!

Research is relevant and cited correctly in text with proper documentation (4pts)
HF Passage is relevant and cited correctly with proper MLA documentation (2 pts)
Song lyrics are relevant and cited correctly (2 pts)
Paragraph analysis is accurate, thorough and shows an understanding of the topic in both time
periods. The research, quote, and lyrics are incorporated thoughtfully in the analysis (10 pts)
Presentation is organized, easy to follow, and aesthetically pleasing (2 pts)
All members participate equally in the preparation and delivery of the presentation
