MONROE CAMPUS HORIZONS FOR YOUTH FAST FACTS 2016
Thank-you for enrolling your child in the Horizons for Youth summer program. We look forward to an exciting
summer. Below is a summary of key pieces of information.



Check your enrollment information for correct dates, sections, and classes.
You may review and print out your child’s schedule at www.northampton.edu/lifelearn under My
Information. If you have any questions, please call the Youth Department at 570-369-1881.
Please note classes are held in Pocono Hall, Keystone Hall and Kapp Hall. Check location carefully.
Camp Monroe operates out of two locations: Pocono Hall (Grades 3-9) and Kapp Hall (Grades K-2).
Drop off in the mornings is at Pocono Hall for all who arrive before 8:45 am. Pick up in the afternoon
after 4:15pm is in the Pocono Hall Gym for all ages.
Reminders
 If attending Camp Monroe Childcare, you must be registered for BASE Camp as a minimum (Up to
12 hours). If you need more than 12 hours, make sure you purchased additional hours of 13-24 hours
or Unlimited Hours.
 Camp Monroe Childcare is in operation from 7AM-6PM Fridays. Please note the college will be
closed Monday, July 4, 2016.
 College offices and services are closed on Fridays between May 27 and Aug 12, 2016.
 Class/Camp Monroe Childcare withdrawals must be made by e-mailing
lifelearndrop@northampton.edu. Please refer to the Horizons for Youth catalog or
http://www.northampton.edu/Horizons-For-Youth/Policies.htm for the refund policy.
 Snack policy: Due to dietary concerns, the college does not provide a snack during classes. Parents may
provide a healthy snack for break time. Snacks will continue to be provided in Camp Monroe.
 If your child is here at lunchtime (Noon-1pm) you may either send a lunch or purchase in the college
cafeteria. A menu with pricing will be emailed to all registered children before the start of the program.

 Please review with your child the Discipline Policy.
 If your child takes medication during class/camp hours you must complete a Medication Authorization
Form. This is available on the youth homepage or by calling the youth office.
 Aides, interpreters etc who will accompany students requiring accommodations must send professional
clearances to the Horizons for Youth office at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the class, along with
documentation of the student’s disability.
Safety Issues
 Please escort your child to and from their destination; either class or Camp Monroe Childcare.
 If someone other than the parent is picking up, you must send in a note informing the teacher/counselor
who will be picking up. Make sure that person has a photo ID.
 If for any reason you are delayed in picking up your child, please call us at 570-369-1881. We will
escort your child to the Camp Monroe Childcare for pick up.
 In case of a local or national emergency, call 610-861-4595 to receive a recorded message that will give
specific information and procedures or check our website, www.northampton.edu, for current
information.
