WORLD WAR I: Trench Warfare
This Webquest explores the horrors of trench warfare in WWI. You will research what
trench warfare was, how the trench system worked, its impact on the western front of the
war, and what life was like for the soldiers who fought and lived in the trenches. After
researching you will write a first person letter home explaining the realities of trench
warfare in WWI on the western front. YOUR GOAL FOR THIS WEBQUEST IS TO GATHER
INFORMATION BY ACCESSING THE WEBSITES BELOW, AND THEN WRITE A LETTER
HOME DISCUSSING TRENCH WARFARE. Make sure you write the letter in a “letter
format.” If I were completing this Webquest, I would go through the websites first, gather
information and then put it all together at the end, thus writing my letter.

Life in the Trenches
After the initial invasion of France by the Germans, the Allied troops pushed the

‘dug in.’
