BLUE SAIL PROGRESS REPORT 3 EAST NORFOLK MARKETING PROJECT SEPTEMBER 2010 TOURISM PROGRESS REPORT 2 - SEPTEMBER This is the third monthly update for the East Norfolk Tourism Marketing Project. 1 UPDATE ON TASKS We had a client conference call on 10 September to update you on progress and to discuss the stakeholder workshop and timescales between now and December. Business Workshops – the three workshops for businesses were held on Weds 8, Thurs 9 and Thurs 16 of September. Attendance at the latter two was good but the first workshop had 5 no shows and several people left the event early because of prior commitments. This was disappointing and may reflect the venue location which was to the north of the Pathfinder area. Each workshop followed the same highly participatory format and a copy of the workshop slides have been supplied separately. Each event was lively and some common threads emerged. We will draw together the collective findings of this process into a single report that captures key messages and views. We will provide this in powerpoint format and use word clouds and other visual techniques to communicate messages simply and clearly and in a way that is easy to share with a wider audience. Stakeholder Workshop Planning – we have agreed a venue and an invitation list for the stakeholder workshop to be held on 12 October. This workshop will test out marketing priorities and action plan ideas with key public sector stakeholders. It will allow input to refining the marketing plan. Tourism Marketing Framework and Action Plan – we have drawn up the structure for this report and have commenced writing the plan. Photography – we have prepared a photographer’s brief and circulated to 5 potential professional photographers selected through desk research and recommendation. All photographers are based in Norfolk. We have provided a 1 BLUE SAIL PROGRESS REPORT 3 SEPTEMBER 2010 summary of their responses under separate email. We have selected a preferred supplier. 2 NEXT STEPS We are currently developing the content of the stakeholder workshop programme. Delivery of the stakeholder workshop on October 12. Production of the business workshop summary paper. Complete the first comprehensive draft of the marketing framework and action plan. Scope out the approach and potential themes for the toolkit Commission and brief photographer. 2
