Agenda approval a) The initial motion to approve the agenda by unanimous consent failed b) There is no record of the second motion to approve the agenda. 2. Resolutions a) "seconded" is spelled incorrectly b) On a side note, since there was no motion on the floor, there was no motion to lay on the table. 3. Debate on Thanksgivings a) In addition to saying we were not equipped to make a decision, I also suggested that we refer the issue to a round table or hypothetical committee. Agenda Approval o motion to approve the agenda by unanimous consent by: Even o abjected: by Kenneth because Resolutions was tabled last week o Martin: why are the resolutions from last week not on the agenda? ▪ the resolutions were not actual resolutions, it was just information about resolutions. The actual resolutions that went through the Presidents’ Round Table will be on the agenda next week to allow them the proper amount of time for consideration by the GA. ● Hall Reports o Anderson: ▪ Anderson Hall and South Side holding Fall Fest on Friday ▪ working on a hygiene campaign ▪ door dnext decorating contest happening right now ▪ meet and greet with the council will be within the next few weeks o Berkshire: ▪ not present o Cassell & Nebraska: ● ▪ November 8th will be the Espresso Yourself event ▪ tabling in the lobby to make birthday cards for children in orphanage because all children deserve a birthday card will be happening soon o Centennial: ▪ pumpkin painting in The Perch was a success, there was a huge turn out, they ran out of pumpkins within 45 minutes ▪ spent the week prepping for Fall Fest o Hughes: ▪ had a coffee with the council event to hear about what residents would like to see out of the hall council ▪ planning a series of Sundays with your School to eat ice cream on a Sunday with another student in your school ▪ there will be some sort of inter hall competition o Leonard: ▪ planning a distress tabling event with stress balls handed out ▪ discussion about how to spend the rest of the funds o Letts Clark and Roper: ▪ organizing social justice keynote event addressing the racist Yik Yaks ▪ getting ready for Fall Fest ▪ planning a town hall for residents to voice complaints ▪ working on policies for vacuums ▪ planning more keynote speakers o McDowell: ▪ went over plans for the semesters, treats for the lounges, and feed back boxes will be put out ▪ possible North Side lazer tag conversation started ● Executive Board Reports o President: ▪ met with Sasha the Student Government President to give updates ▪ met with Lisa Freeman to give updates ▪ met with Paul about NRHH ▪ first SAWG committee meeting about education ▪ went to the alcohol policy town halls o Vice President of Administration and Finance: ▪ 2 staff fund requests, one passed one failed ▪ tabled at Safety Fest ▪ working with Jake (Deputy) on the My Favorite Student care packages ▪ finally go the money from the Poster Sale people ▪ went to the alcohol town hall o Vice President of Advocacy and Community Coordination: ▪ working on a plan to start gathering testimonials about condoms in the Residence Halls ▪ went to the Haunted Hou ▪ met with Lisa Freeman about the guest visitation policy o Vice President of Programming: ▪ went to North Side Halloween ▪ went to Safety Fest ▪ Fall Fest is all planned out ▪ went to both alcohol town halls ▪ discussions about Thanksgiving→ RHA will be funding Thankgiving but the actual running the event will be not on RHA ▪ possible opportunity for dogs on the quad o National Communications Coordinator: ▪ there have been 2 CAACURH meetings ▪ decided what the roll call video for CAACURH will be ▪ made the changes to the Bylaws that were made over the summer ▪ disciplinary review committee is all set o Chief of Staff: ▪ met with Christine from HDP, and have the website up to date with the budget for this year and all of the minutes from the meetings so far ▪ met with Aboard, need to meet with them again because not all of them were present ▪ went to the North Side Haunted House ▪ reading all the minutes that have been sent to me o NRHH: ▪ had a table at Safety Fest ▪ OTM workshops will be happening every month ▪ the some new people registered for OTM accounts ▪ presentation on OTM’s tonight ▪ update on Aramark workers, at 2:35pm students are meeting at MGC to present a letter to the Aramark administration o Advisors: ▪ there is a poster about important dates it will be sent out to eve ▪ Housing is open over Thanksgiving break ▪ the residence halls will close 12pm December 16th and reopen on January 3, 2016 ● Old Business o N/A ● New Business o Administration Board approval: ▪ Terry: Currently living in McDowell, last year was in RHA as VP of Recognition, wants to continue work helping the VP of Recognition as NCC­IT and keep connecting with the community through OTM’s and learn more through conferences ▪ Debate: ● Tyler: I think Terry is the perfect choice, was his roommate last year and he will work hard ● Kenneth: Motion to approve this by a simple voice vote ● seconded by Sam ● motion carries o Voting ▪ there are different ways to vote ▪ the placard voting: most common, raise your packard and it will be counted ▪ voice voting: use your voice, no definite count and the winner is up to the discretion of the chair, if the voices seem to close together, call for a division then you stand with your vote, no second required for the division motion ▪ unanimous consent, speeds up the process of voting, as long as there are no objections ▪ secret ballot: used often in trials or elections, no one knows who is voting for what, requires scrap paper ▪ Kenneth: is there still debate if it unanimous consent: ● yes o NRHH OTM Presentation ▪ wants to start monthly OTM writing party, we will let you know when they are ▪ Sam: Can OTM’s be anonymous ● no the name is on it o Scope, Values, and Resources ▪ Advocacy is like an hourglass, an issue has been identified, then the middle part comes (resolution, conversation, many other forms) it talks about where the advocacy is going to go. After the issue is addressed it is time to branch back out and see it through, which is the bottom part of the hour glass ▪ if at any point where the branching part is not occurring use the resources, talk to advisors ▪ keep in mind the goals and mission of RHA, if at any point you feel RHA is not fulfilling the goals question it, talk to the Eboard, talk to advisors, and GA ▪ the Director of Residence life reviews the minutes to keep up with concerns of the Halls and know what is going on in the halls ▪ for RHA recognized issues the issue will go up the chain of staff and directors, a course of action will be chosen, then it will most likely come back down to the residence halls to take that action within the Halls o HOTY Presentation ▪ see the presentation sent out in the minutes ▪ send the proof to HOTY@aurha.org ▪ Kenneth: Can we submit evidence from events that already happened? ● yes absolutely o Bylaws Introduction ▪ over the weekend the most up to date version of the Bylaws was sent out to GA ▪ the Bylaws are the governing body of RHA, they keep RHA ethical ▪ some areas are left purposely vague allow for some wiggle room and discretion of the GA ▪ this is a student run organization, as such it is a learning experience, we are here to learn ▪ please read the Bylaws ▪ Nana­Ama: Will the Avalon be a part of the hall councils? ● no they are not a part of AU housing ▪ Terry: So the change in hall councils was to allow for more efficiency and to allow for East Campus? ● yes ▪ Sam: When will the most recent Bylaws be put on the website? ● approximately 4 business days ● Open Forum o none ● General Announcements o Blood Drive ▪ we are still filling out the volunteer sheet which is great ▪ if you are free on November 12th from 9:30­4:30 you should sign up, you get HOTY points o Alcohol Policy Information ▪ there were 2 community info sessions held this week, all of the information has been released on Facebook ▪ we are collecting comments and feedback on Facebook on it until November 4th ▪ they really want student feedback so check it out, encourage residents to check it out ▪ this is a really big deal and will impact you in your time here at AU o Monday 6­10pm CAACURH fundraiser at CAVA, HOTY points ▪ the money is going to Adopt A Family goes to buying clothes and toys for family in need ▪ it is a great organization ▪ Daniel: Do we have to say or do anything? ● when you order mention CAACURH or Adopt a Family o Cristina: ▪ there is a breakfast on November 12 at 8:15 there are 5 spots open to any member of GA, let her know if you are interested in going o if you wore a costume come up to the front to get HOTY points and be entered in a raffle ● Recognition o Sam: recognizes Chris Moody for the alcohol policy o Terry: Jaime and Will for being Batman and Robin o Paul: Eboard and Daniel and Cait they are working super hard this year, so many projects being carried out from years ago, it’s impressive lucky to be a part of this organization o Proxy:: shout out to Andrew for telling me what to do ● Adjournment o motion to adjourn by unanimous by: Sam o seconded by: Kenneth o time: 10:58
